Economics Outside the Box Essay Contest

Economics is more than a subject in a classroom. The 2010 Economic Essay Contest challenges your 11th and 12th grade students to step outside the box and see economics in the world around them.

The task asks students to choose any narrative that illustrates an economic lesson. The essay should describe the narrative, explain the economic concept and show the connection between the two.

The contest is open to junior- and senior-level students in the Eleventh Federal Reserve District from either first- or second- semester classes. Entries will be accepted now through February 26, 2010.

Prizes include:
*   First place – $1,000 Series EE savings bond
*   Second place – $500 Series EE savings bond
*   Third place – $250 Series EE savings bond
*   Fourth to twelfth place – Series EE $100 savings bond
